Five Minutes with Fella;
Sophie Palmer
Sophie Palmer is one half of the powerhouse behind Worn For Good — a platform that receives donations of new and preloved designer apparel from people in the fashion industry. We spoke to Sophie to learn a little more about her life behind the scenes.
Lovely to meet you! Please tell us about yourself. What do you do and where do you live?
Thanks for having me! I’m Mum to Della, yoga and meditation teacher and co-founder of Worn for Good. We normally live in Sydney but for the last few months we’ve been living on the mid north coast, renovating an investment property we recently bought.
What is your star sign? This means you are . . .
Libran. Indecisive, empathetic, light hearted.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
Nusa Lembongan will always be a favourite, it’s where we got engaged. I also can’t wait to go back to Praiano in Italy with the whole family for lunchtime pasta and ocean dips. Heaven on earth.
My number one skincare secret is ...
Sunscreen daily and Emma Lewisham’s Vitamin A Oil, Supernatural Serum and 72 Hour Cream. All of her products have been a game changer for my skin, especially post-partum with pigmentation. I can’t recommend her beautiful line of products enough.
What are you currently listening to / reading? (Podcast , playlist or book)
Currently re-reading The Continuum Concept by Jean Liedloff.
Favourite Fella swimsuit this season?
Normally I’m a Casanova / Franco girl but lately I’ve been living in the Hunter top.
To me, summer feels like ...
... Beach camping, evening swims and sandy cuddles.
IF MONEY WAS NO OBJECT, WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM JOB BE?
I feel so lucky to do what I do. With all the money in the world, I wouldn't wish to change my line of work. Although I might give myself and our little team a pay rise.
Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as your top three dinner guests?
Dez Ginns, Russell Brand and a few of my best girlfriends in Melbourne who I haven’t seen in way too long.
Are there any foundations or causes close to your heart?
Look Good Feel Better is a wonderful charity that I personally feel connected to and one we support through Worn for Good. A few years ago I was diagnosed with a rare blood condition, and I really admire and appreciate the work they’re doing to support and empower people who are going through some really tough stuff.
WE NAME ALL OF OUR SWIMSUITS UNDER MALE / UNISEX BIRTH NAMES OR FAMOUS MALE CHARACTERS THROUGHOUT HISTORY. IF YOU HAD IT YOUR WAY, WHAT WOULD YOU NAME YOUR NEXT FELLA SWIMSUIT?
Bodhi (our daughter's middle name).
